PP Madhavan, a long-time supporter of the Gandhi family and Congress Parliamentary Party president Sonia Gandhi’s personal secretary PP Madhavan, died of a heart attack on Monday. He was 73 years old.
Lok Sabha MP and AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and KC Venugopal were at AIIMS at the time of his death. He will be cremated on Tuesday at his birthplace in Thrissur, Kerala. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will attend the cremation.
Madhavan, a former central government employee, has been with the Gandhi family since Rajiv Gandhi became prime minister in 1984. He has been with the family ever since through thick and thin – a top 10, Janpath was an insider whom all top party leaders – both young and old – knew and trusted.
