Karnataka’s four road transport corporations have disbursed Rs 224.05 crore as gratuity and received leave cash to 11,694 retired employees. The arrears after the pay revision 2020, were cleared by Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy in Bengaluru on Saturday, December 21.
Earlier, the KSRTC Employees and Labor Federation, along with other transport unions, had planned a statewide strike on December 31, demanding the state government to meet their long-pending demands, which included outstanding dues and gratuity payments.
Mr. Reddy symbolically handed over checks to three retired employees at the event and said, “We have fulfilled our promises once again and all issues will be resolved soon. The outstanding payments cover the retirees from January 1, 2020 to February 28, 2023, and RTGS and cheques. was done through.”
KSRTC accounted for ₹ 86.55 crore benefiting 4,711 employees. BMTC disbursed ₹ 50.25 crore to 1,833 retirees, while NWKRTC and KKRTC released ₹ 51.50 crore and ₹ 35.75 crore to 3,116 and 2,034 staff members, respectively.
Earlier, HV Ananth Subba Rao, president of the KSRTC Employees and Labor Federation, had claimed that the government owed ₹1,750 crore and gratuity payment of ₹399.29 crore.
