In a shooting Wednesday at a religious K-8 school in Northern California, two students were injured and the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.
The condition of the children who were taken to a nearby hospital is unknown. One of them was taken to hospital by helicopter. Authorities did not release their gender, age or name.
On Wednesday around 1 o’clock in the afternoon, a shooting broke out at a private school called Feather River School of Seventh-day Adventists in Palermo. There were less than three dozen students in the school. Palermo, which is about 65 miles (104 km) north of Sacramento, has about 5,500 people.
The shooting at a K-8 school in Palermo is the latest in a series of school shootings in the United States this year, including a deadly one in Newtown, Connecticut. Parkland, Florida; and Uvalde, Texas.

Butte County Sheriff Corey L. Honea told reporters that the shooter had no connection to the school and that the motive for the shooting remains unknown as investigators try to identify the deceased suspect.
Sheriff Honea added that 911 calls reported “a person on campus shooting at students.” When officers arrived on the school campus, the accused was found lying on the ground, apparently dead from a self-inflicted wound.
