Incessant rains continue as a depression moves over coastal North Andhra Pradesh

On Saturday (December 21, 2024), Visakhapatnam continued to receive incessant rain as a depression over West Central Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh coast became active and moved east-northeast at a speed of 7 kmph till 5.30 am in the last six hours. Saturday (December 21, 2024.)

Visakhapatnam received 5 mm of rain near Kailasagiri from 8.31 am to 11 am on Saturday (December 21, 2024), while Gara in Srikakulam district received the state’s highest rainfall of 31.75 mm.

The system was located 440 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam and 600 km south-southwest of Gopalpur (Odisha), according to the latest weather bulletin.

This system is likely to maintain its intensity as a depression for the next 12 hours and slowly move east-northeast and then gradually weaken and fall into the sea.

Under the influence of continuous rainfall activity and rough sea conditions, coastal areas across the state were eroded at some places.
