After losing for the ninth time in 12 games, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has further weakened the chances of winning the Premier League title. But City striker Erling Haaland has backed the manager who has won the league six times in seven years.
“He won the Premier League six times in seven years, so we will never forget that,” said Haaland, showing faith in his manager. “He will find a solution. He has been doing this every year. We still believe in him, we just have to work harder now than ever. “
Erling Haaland did not perform up to his standards, failing to register a single shot against Aston Villa, and managing just one touch in the opposition box as they went down 2-1. Haaland also noted the need to work and acknowledged his poor form recently.

“The first (person) I see is myself, I’m not doing things well enough, I’m not scoring my chances and everything. I have to do better, it’s too much on me and I haven’t been good enough.”
Guardiola backed the Norwegian striker and defended his current form following his self-critical comments.
“I don’t agree with him. Without him we would be worse. But I like the players to feel that way. This is the only chance we have to get better. There are two options: judge yourself or blame. I don’t agree with Erling because We need to try and send him the right balls in the end. We will recover and fight for the next one.”
Manchester City have won just one of their last seven Premier League outings, and the loss to Aston Villa has left them in the race to defend this year’s Premier League title and become champions for a fifth consecutive season. They are also out of the Carabao Cup and out of the Premier League’s top four, potentially missing out on a place in the next edition of the Champions League.
Manchester City’s next match will be against Everton on Boxing Day.
