Grave crimes increased by double digits in Rachakonda

Hyderabad: Murders, kidnappings, rapes and dowry deaths registered an increasing trend in Rachakonda Commissionerate in 2024, Police Commissioner G. According to Sudhir Babu.

Talking to mediapersons, he said that in 2024, there was an increase of 11 percent in murder cases and this trend was also seen in crimes like rape and fake promises of marriage. There has been a 10 percent increase in cases of abductions including missing minors. Death due to dowry has increased by 11 percent.

Rachakonda police arrested 521 NDPS and drug offenders and seized drugs worth Rs 882.5 million and kept effective surveillance on 159 drug dealers.

Sudhir Babu said the Rachakonda police had a 76 per cent case resolution rate and a 64 per cent conviction rate, both of which were the highest in the state for major crimes for the sixth consecutive year. The Commissionerate had a caseload of 33,084.

He said this year the emphasis was on visible policing, rapid response and integration of technology (VQT).

He said that due to effective monitoring, real estate crimes have decreased by 10 percent. Due to the initiative of SHE team, Bharosa Kendra and increased patrolling, incidents of violence against women have decreased by nine percent compared to the previous year.

The Rachakonda Cyber ​​Crime Unit has returned Rs 22 crore to victims of cyber fraud. Participation in the National Lok Adalat facilitated disposal of 11,440 compoundable cases and 70,719 e-small cases.

The number of accidents has decreased by 12.3 percent while the number of deaths has decreased by 12.21 percent in the commissionerate spread over an area of ​​5,122 square kilometers with five national highways and 61 km of ORR.

Sudhir Babu said the Blue Colts and patrol cars handled 2,41,742 dial 100 calls with an average response time of 8.37 minutes, the fastest in the state.

Emphasizing on women’s safety, the commissioner said that two more trust centers will be established. Surveillance and decoy operations by SHE teams are also round-the-clock. Actions are taken not only on complaints, but any footage we see where women are abused or harassed, cases are registered and taken care of.
