A fire broke out at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) refinery in Koyali area of Vadodara city on Saturday, though no one was injured in the incident, a police official said.
AB Mori, inspector of Jawaharnagar police station, said that the fire broke out in the furnace in the Isomet unit of the refinery at 5:15 pm and was brought under control by the fire brigade of IOC’s emergency response team.
“No casualty has been reported in the incident. It was a level 1 (minor) fire and cooling operations are underway,” Corey said. In a statement the refinery said, “A fire broke out in the heater of NS1 unit of Gujarat Refinery on 21/12/2024 at around 1730 hrs.
“The management team of the refinery and the fire brigade personnel responded immediately and the fire was extinguished within 10-12 minutes. There was no human loss due to the incident. Refinery unit operations are normal.
On November 11, two people were killed in a massive fire after a benzene storage tank at the facility exploded.
