Even as the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) kept the repo rate unchanged at 6.5 percent for the 11th time The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday reduced the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR). 50 basis points (bps) to 4 percent to increase liquidity in the financial system. The panel lowered its estimate of GDP growth to 6.6 percent in fiscal 2025, while revising retail inflation to 4.8 percent for the current fiscal year.

This reduction will release primary liquidity of around Rs 1.16 lakh crore into the banking system.
