Kerala’s former Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, MR Ajith Kumar’s alleged secret report on the Thrissur Pooram ‘obstacles’ on Monday (December 23,) drew bipartisan criticism politically from the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Congress. 2024).

CPI leader VS Sunil Kumar said Hindu The timing of the “so-called secret document leak” and the conflicting findings of the investigative report were highly questionable.

Mr. Sunil Kumar said that the state police had denied him a copy of the report he sought under the RTI Act, citing security reasons.

“How can such a confidential report come into the public domain without official consent? The question demands a separate inquiry by the state government,” he added.

Mr. Sunil Kumar said the report was “unnecessary and irrelevant” and the State Superintendent of Police (SPC) rejected it. Later, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan formed a three-member team, including the SPC, to conduct a detailed investigation, he pointed out.

Mr. Sunil Kumar said that the inquiry team has almost completed the investigation and is yet to submit its findings to the government.

He said that the report of the ADGP had mistakenly given a clean chit to the police. This reflects a political conspiracy to create widespread dissatisfaction with the ruling front. Moreover, the report casts doubt on the Devasoms. “Therefore, it was doubtful that the report would come out in the present situation”, he said.

White work: Congress

Opposition leader VD Satheesan alleged that the pooram was disrupted by the police with the tacit approval of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as part of the Communist Party of India (Marxist’s) “tacit understanding” with the BJP in Kerala.

Congress leader K. Muralidharan called the report “an absurd whitewash”.

The CPI had flagged a “conspiracy” to stack the decks in favor of Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency candidate Suresh Gopi of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which includes the RSS top leadership, some Devasom officials and some law enforcers. In the 2024 election.

Both the CPI and the Congress claimed that the alleged conspiracy had inflamed Hindu majority sentiments by “sabotaging” the Puram Madhyamika to give Mr. Gopi a strong fighting chance in the constituency.

Both sides blamed the police for giving Mr. Gopi a champion image by giving him special access to the Devasom office and festival grounds, which were closed to other politicians.
