Child injured as lights fall during Christmas carnival at Chandigarh Mall Chandigarh News

A four-year-old girl was injured when a hanging light fixed on the dance floor fell during the Christmas carnival at Elante Mall in Chandigarh.

Due to the incident, the head of the girl named Avni Sharma was swollen. He was taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he was treated and later discharged.

This is the third incident in recent days at Elante Mall. Earlier, a child was killed and another was injured due to a toy train collision, and in another incident, a 13-year-old girl and her aunt were injured after falling from a granite pillar.

In Wednesday’s incident, Avni was accompanied by her parents Navneet Thakur and Pooja Sharma, residents of Sector 50, Chandigarh.

Navneet alleged, “We bought Christmas carnival tickets at Elante Mall. My daughter was dancing with other children when a ball-shaped lamp weighing about 10-15 kg fell on her head.”

After the accident, the child cried out in pain. The police were informed and Avni was taken to GMCH-32, where doctors treated her.

While Navneet refused to take legal action against the mall authorities, he criticized their negligence. ‘There could have been a big incident as children were dancing in the ticketed area. Mall authorities cannot be careless in organizing such activities especially in areas targeted for children. Proper connection of such equipment is essential,” he said.
