Chaos at party worker’s funeral, Congress says – BJP members tried to disrupt it Lucknow News

The funeral of the 28-year-old Youth Congress worker turned chaotic at his native village in Gorakhpur on Thursday after state Congress chief Ajay Rai arrived to pay his last respects.

He (Prabhat Pandey) was a worker of our party, we want to pay our last respects to him. But BJP workers are doing politics. The family has the right to stop anyone, but instead the BJP leaders were involved in politics. The government is responsible for the death of our workers and we fight for justice,’ Rai said.

Congress said on Wednesday A 28-year-old youth died during the protest in Lucknow and cited “police brutality” as the reason for his death.

But the police denied the allegations and said that the youth was last seen at the Congress party office, where he was found unconscious and no external injury marks were found on his body.

Pandey’s body was brought home for last rites on Thursday. Grieving father Deepak Pandey said, ‘This is the result of my actions. My only son is gone.” His mother fainted at the funeral home, while his grandfather, a retired postal worker, was stunned and unable to speak. –with PTI
