Imphal: Keeping in view the security concerns arising due to traffic from neighboring countries, the Union Home Ministry has re-authorized protected areas in Manipur. It has been implemented, the statement of the state government said.
A statement issued on Wednesday night said, “With this re-establishment, the movement of foreigners visiting Manipur will be closely monitored, and they will be required to obtain the requisite Protected Area Permit (PAP) as per the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order, 1958.”
It said the Center has reimposed protected area permits in Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram.
The statement stated that the state government has taken note of the warning given by the organization asking Chief Minister N Viren Singh not to participate in the cultural program through Kangpokpi district by road in Senapati district.
It said, “On investigation, it has been found that no such organization (Kuki Jo Council) exists in Manipur. The origin and authenticity of this group is highly questionable.
The statement said that the police is actively investigating the matter and an FIR will be registered to find out the true nature and intention of such deceptive activities.
The government urged people to “exercise caution and not pay heed to statements or claims by organizations of dubious origin, which have emerged recently with the clear intention of creating confusion and unrest.”
The state government is committed to maintaining peace and harmony in the state and advised the citizens to be aware and trust only reliable sources of information.
