His significant contribution to horror cinema, especially his leading role in 1992’s Candyman, brought him recognition. Lifetime Achievement Award at the New York City Horror Film Festival.
In his latest work, Todd starred in Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2, discussing his portrayal of Venom ahead of its release last year.
“Insomnia games Heartbroken by the passing of our friend Tony Todd. He brought so much joy to our studio during the production of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and to many fans around the world with his incredible voice and presence. We are poison…forever,” Insomniac said in a post on X.
Despite his theatrical roots, Todd established an extensive screen presence. His remarkable career spanned several decades, with more than 240 film and television productions, including Platoon, the 1990 version of Night of the Living Dead, The Crow, and appearances in the Star Trek and Final Destination series.
His posthumous appearance is scheduled in Final Destination: Bloodlines, expected for release in 2025.
