Artificial intelligence startup Krutrim will provide faculty members and students across all Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) campuses with full access to its AI computing infrastructure.
The company will provide a one-time credit of Rs 10,000 which can be used on Crutrim’s cloud platform for a period of 12 months, effective immediately.
“As we roll out this initiative across IITs, we are not just offering cloud credits – we are investing in India’s digital future. We aim to empower India’s innovators with indigenous cloud technology, ensuring they have the tools and resources to build solutions that address our nation’s unique challenges. With this, we will nurture our brightest minds, and contribute to the nation’s journey to become a global AI hub,” Bhavish Aggarwal, founder of Kritrim, said in a statement.
The company followed up with an offer of free cloud services worth Rs 100 crore to developers, which can be availed till Diwali 2025.
While the AI boom has abounded, the developer community has also struggled with the rising cost of cloud services, which account for significant expense as complex AI models involve processing large amounts of data.
Krutrim also announced 50 new service centers on the Krutrim Cloud, making it ready for the applications Indian developers need. It is also in the process of increasing its data center capacity to 1 gigawatt (GW) by 2028.
Founded in 2023 by Aggarwal, Krutrim is the AI arm of the Ola Group, which also owns brands including ride-hailing platform Ola Consumer and publicly listed electric vehicle maker Ola Electric.
Earlier this year, Crutrum became the first Indian AI unicorn when it raised $50 million at a $1 billion valuation.
