Bengaluru Traffic Police has relaunched its website with new features including links to pay traffic fines and monitor traffic congestion in real time around the city. Bengaluru Traffic Police’s revamped website btp.gov.in was launched by city police commissioner B Dayanand on Friday.
“The old website has been revamped and new features have been added. One of the key elements has been the addition of a traffic violation link. Traffic challans can be paid through this feature,” said the Bengaluru city police commissioner.
“Similarly, the link on the new site will allow road users to check traffic conditions in different parts of the city and use the best roads to avoid traffic jams and reach their destinations,” he said.
Live Traffic Congestion Map uses Google Maps to indicate areas marked in red with congested traffic conditions and suggests the least necessary routes to reach a destination.
The website uses sophisticated data analytics to provide a traffic situation map, which gives real-time updates on traffic jams, road closures and diversions, said a statement from the traffic police.
The website has three main sections: Traffic Management, Enforcement and Road Safety. “By navigating through these sections, public users will be able to report traffic violations, register complaints and suggestions, pay traffic challans / dispute challans,” the traffic police said in a statement.
Under the ‘Navigate Bengaluru’ section, the public has a dedicated platform to give route suggestions and help navigate the city with live traffic data,” said the police.
Bengaluru Traffic Police recently won three awards for its use of technology for traffic monitoring and regulation.
“Bengaluru Police has been a leader in terms of the use of cutting-edge technology and the recent awards are an indication that we are maintaining the edge. The technology and the type of traffic policing we do is very advanced,” said Dayanand.
The new website will also integrate traffic alerts which are currently maintained daily on individual social media handles of traffic police stations as well as by traffic DCPs and headquarters.
The website is designed and developed by the e-Governance Centre, Government of Karnataka.
