As Delhi elections approach, Congress starts politics in Ambedkar’s name: BSP | Delhi News

BSP national coordinator Akash Anand on Tuesday accused Congress leaders of wearing blue T-shirts and sarees to influence Scheduled Caste (SC) voters ahead of the Delhi polls.

Akash Nanda was addressing BSP workers in Nagri before they took out a protest rally against Home Minister Amit Shah over his recent comments about Dr BR Ambedkar during the winter session of Parliament.

Criticizing the Congress, he claimed the party was “trying to do politics” in Ambedkar’s name. “Delhi elections are approaching… They have again started doing politics in the name of Babasaheb. Now I am worried about insulting Babasaheb by looking at blue t-shirt and blue saree.

“It becomes a fashion statement for Congress people to wear blue during elections…Until now they have been carrying the constitution book. Now wearing a blue t-shirt and saree…” he added.

Dr BR Ambedkar, the Dalit icon who framed the constitution of independent India, is depicted in blue on all statues across the country. Blue was not only Ambedkar’s favorite color but also the flag of the party he had hoisted in 1942, the Scheduled Caste Federation.

Akash said Congress leaders are trying to woo SC voters “as they know the Congress symbol will not get votes from the community”.

Meanwhile, the protest march is part of a nationwide demonstration by the BSP against Shah. Apologizing to Shah, Akash said, ‘It is clear from the Home Minister’s statement that he cannot respect our community from the heart, cannot work for our community politically and will not be able to do so in the future. .”

Responding to the debate in the Rajya Sabha on ’75 years of the glorious journey of the Constitution of India’, Shah criticized the opposition and said, ‘It has become fashionable to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. Ambedkar’. If they (Congress) had taken the name of God many times, they would have got a place in heaven,’ he said.
