The leaders of the Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) have demanded that Class 10 students attending special classes on Saturday and Sunday be provided with mid-day meals and transport facilities for their academic preparation for the upcoming board exams.
In a statement, the federation’s state president G Hriday Raju and general secretary Y Chiranjeevi on December 13 at a meeting involving officials of the school education department and representatives of recognized teachers’ unions, said Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Dr. Nar Lokesh agreed to their request to provide mid-day meals and transportation facilities on second Saturdays, Sundays and festival holidays as students come from far and wide. areas.
They said no order was issued in this regard even on Saturday, a day ahead of Sunday when students have to travel long distances from home to attend classes and spend the day at school during lunch.
