HyderabadAccused No. 11 of the December 4 Sandhya theater stampede case, movie actor Allu Arjun was called to appear before the police and was interrogated for about four hours at the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police at Chikkadapally.
He was accompanied by his legal team led by his father Allu Arvind and father-in-law Chandrasekhar Reddy and Sudarshan Reddy.
According to sources, a team led by Central Area DCP Akshansh Yadav and Chikkadapally ACP Ramesh Kumar started the inquiry at 11.05 am and a woman was killed and her son seriously injured in the stampede. A video was taken of the question and answer session.
According to sources, the police played a 10-minute video of the chase in the presence of Arjun and his lawyer Sudarshan Reddy and asked questions. Allu Arvind and Chandrashakar Reddy were not allowed to accompany Arjun for questioning.
Sources said that the investigation team asked Arjun who gave him permission to go to the theater to watch the special show ‘Pushpa-2’ and he was informed about the permission.
The police asked Arjun if the theater management had informed him that the police had refused permission for his visit. They asked Arjun if he had informed the concerned police station about his expected visit and if he had taken permission for his road show.
The police also asked the actor if he knew about Revathi’s death in the stampede when he was present at the theatre. They asked him to name the family members present at the theater to watch the film.
The police asked Arjun how many bouncers he had and the name of the agency that hired them. They sought details of bouncers and fans who obstructed police officers from performing their duties on December 4.
Meanwhile, Anthony, one of Arjun’s bouncers, has reportedly been arrested by the Chikkadapally police.
Sources said that Arjun helped the police but it was an unfortunate accident. After the investigation was over at 2:50 PM, Arjun went straight to his home.
Arjun looked tense before going to the Chikkadapally police station for questioning. Based on his lawyer’s advice, Arjun refused to accompany him for his personal security.
Arjun started from his house at Road No. 68, Jubilee Hills at around 10:30 am. Security arrangements were made by the Central and West Zone police on the road. Twelve sub-lanes leading to the ACP office at Chikkadapally were barricaded. Except for local residents, no one is allowed to enter the lane by showing identity card and proof of address.
400 policemen were mobilized near the ACP office. After Arjun entered the office of ACP, the task force staff blocked the main gate of the office.
On Monday, Sandhya Theater stampede case investigating officer B Raju Naik issued a notice to Arjun to appear at the Chikkadapally police station. “The matter is under investigation and your presence before the undersigned is essential to get your reply regarding the incident and if necessary to visit the spot, to ascertain the truth,” the notice said. Although the Telangana High Court granted interim bail to Arjun on December 13, it asked him to cooperate with the investigation.
