A Delhi resident, his accomplice, in the role of a policeman, looted 16 lakhs from a man from Ludhiana Chandigarh news

A resident of Delhi and his six unidentified accomplices allegedly impersonated the police and robbed a Ludhiana man of Rs 16 lakh in cash at a hotel near the Ludhiana bus stand.

It is alleged that the accused threatened the victim and his friend with a gun before fleeing with the money.

After 26-year-old Amarjit Singh of Jain Colony on Rahon Road lodged a complaint with the police, an FIR was registered against Amit Kumar of Delhi and his six friends at the Model Town police station.

Amarjeet told the police that his brother Damanpreet Singh wanted to stay abroad so they contacted Delhi-based travel agent Raj Verma. Verma demanded Rs 1.6 lakh to arrange for Damanpreet’s immigration to Canada with the condition that payment would be made only after Damanpreet boarded the flight.

Damanpreet was scheduled to fly on December 22. However, on December 21, Verma informed Amarjeet that his employee Amit Kumar would be coming to Ludhiana to collect the payment.

Amarjeet said that Amit stayed at a hotel near the bus stand where he was asked to show the cash and hand it over only after the flight took off. He said that he went to the hotel room with his friend Gaurav Sharma and stayed in Amit’s room.

Around 3.30 am, Amit opened the room door and allowed six strangers to enter, the complainant claimed.

The accused, claiming to be a police officer, started searching the room. β€œOne of them took Amarjeet and Gaurav hostage and carried a gun. The robbers then fled with 1.6 million in cash. Amit Kumar also fled with them, confirming his involvement in the robbery,” said Amarjeet.

ADCP Ramandeep Singh Bhullar said, “Even though the incident was initially suspicious, the initial investigation confirmed the claim of the victim. A case has been registered against the travel agent’s employee Amit Kumar and his assistant. The role of travel agent Raj Verma is also being investigated.

The Model Town police have registered a case under Sections 310 (2) (robbery), 190 (guilty of each member of an unlawful assembly for the offense of common object), 191 (3) (rioting, with deadly weapon). ) Indian Penal Code (BNS) and the Arms Act.
