ICG rescues critically injured fisherman near Bhavnagar coast Ahmedabad News

A 31-year-old fisherman, who was critically injured, was rescued by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) near Bhavnagar coast in Gujarat on Thursday, according to a statement.

The Indian Coast Guard Station at Pipavav, located near the west coast of Gujarat, received information about a medical emergency on board the Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) ‘Daria Dolat One’, about 110 km at sea from Pipavav in Bhavnagar.

A release from the ICG said that the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) C-409, which was under surveillance, was tasked with evacuating the fishermen.

“ICGS C-409 quickly established communication with the boat and proceeded to its position at maximum speed,” the statement said. “The ICG vessel pulled out a fisherman named Dev Uka Davi who sustained severe injuries in the lower right abdomen when he pulled a rope entangled from the propeller of the fishing boat,” the statement said.
