The State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) plans to set up crèche facilities in 17 of its industrial parks.
This is in addition to the already existing 63 crèches located in 13 SIPCOT industrial parks.
As outlined in the 2024-25 budget speech, creches will provide safe and accessible childcare, allowing parents, particularly women, to engage productively in the workforce. Once implemented, the crèches in these 17 industrial parks are expected to benefit 3.23 lakh employees. Creches will adhere to national guidelines under the Maternity Benefit Act 2017 to promote early learning and development.
SIPCOT has partnered with Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Ladies Organization (FLO) Chennai to implement the project. The infrastructure will be developed by SIPCOT, while operations and maintenance will be managed by FICCI FLO Chennai.
Regarding this partnership, SIPCOT’s Managing Director K. An MoU was signed between Senthil Raj and FICCI FLO Chennai President CA Divya Abhishek.
