Karnataka High Court extends deadline for Lokayukta probe in MUDA plot case

BangaloreHearing a plea by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda) seeking transfer of alleged plot allotment irregularities to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife from the Lokayukta to the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Karnataka High Court on Thursday extended the deadline to the Lokayukta, Mysore Wing. To submit the final report of its investigation by January 28, 2025.

In September, the High Court asked the officials of the Lokayukta, Mysore branch to submit the final report by December 24 this year.

The High Court is hearing a plea filed by a social activist, Snemayi Krishna, to hand over the MUDA plot irregularities to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths for an impartial probe by the Lokayukta, Mysuru branch.

The High Court has fixed the next hearing of the case on January 15 next year where it will take up a plea filed by social activist Snemayi Krishna seeking handover of the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from the Lokayukta, Mysuru branch. Final arguments.

It may be recalled here that the High Court of Karnataka ordered the Lokayukta, Mysore branch to investigate the alleged irregularities in allotment of plots by MUDA to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife BM Parvathy. Parvati was allotted 14 plots of land by MUDA as compensation for the loss of 3.16 acres of land to MUDA in Kesare, Mysuru taluk.

Snemayi Krishna, a social activist from Mysore, demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah be prosecuted under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, accusing Governor Thawarchand Gehlot of irregularities in the allotment of plots to the CM’s wife.

The chief minister has challenged the approval of the Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot by filing a writ petition in the High Court. The High Court upheld the Governor’s decision and asked the Lokayukta, Mysuru branch to allot the plot to the CM’s wife by MUDA and submit a final report on December 24 this year.
