Tiruchi Railway Division has achieved a milestone in freight movement by crossing 10 million tonnes for the third year in a row. It achieved this milestone in 257 days from April 1 to December 13 of the current financial year and generated a revenue of ₹ 544.85 crore during this period.
The division has recorded impressive growth in several commodities with coal loading emerging at the top. Coal loading has increased by 4 percent to 7.812 million tons compared to the same period of last financial year. Goods such as iron, food, cement, fertilizers, containers were transported in the division. The division has increased its freight by 3 percent in this financial year.
The division organized a business development conference on Wednesday in which 11 major clients including Adani Karaikal Port Pvt Ltd participated. Ltd., Karaikal, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu Civil Supply Corporation Limited, Dalmia Cements (B) Limited, Dalmiapuram, India Cements, Ichhangadu, The Ramco Cements, Ariyalur, and Ichhangadu, Chettinad Cement Corporation, Sillakudi, and Tamil Nadu Cement Corporation.
Tiruchi Divisional Railway Manager MS Anbalagan encouraged the freight customers to strengthen their support by increasing the volume of freight movement which will play an important role in surpassing the remaining targets of this financial year.
At the meeting, customers shared their loading plans and discussed operational issues that needed attention. Mr. Anbalagan assured the customers that their concerns would be resolved within the framework of rules to ensure prompt and uninterrupted delivery of goods, said a Tiruchi Division press release.
