NDA MPs have filed an assassination attempt complaint against Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Three NDA MPs, including Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj, have filed a police complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he was involved in “physical assault and provocation” during a scuffle in Parliament, an official said. Thakur and Swaraj, along with a TDP MP, met the authorities at the Parliament Street police station and lodged a written complaint.

“We have filed a complaint of physical assault and incitement against Mr. Rahul Gandhi,” Thakur told the media outside the police station.

BJP MP Anurag Thakur said, “We have filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi with the Delhi Police. We have detailed the incident that took place outside Parliament’s Makardwar today.”

Thakur said that when the BJP-led NDA MPs were peacefully protesting against the Congress, Gandhi reached the spot along with the Indi Alliance MPs and instigated them to go among the NDA MPs.

“We have filed a complaint under Sections 109, 115, 117, 125, 131 and 351. Section 109 for attempt to kill, Section 117 for causing voluntary hurt and Section 125 for endangering life,” Thakur said.

Earlier in the day, former minister Pratapchandra Sarangi was injured during a face-off between opposition and NDA MPs at the parliament premises over an alleged insult to BR Ambedkar.

The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing a senior member, a charge the Congress leader denied.

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said BJP MP Mukesh Rajput was also injured in the clash.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Sarangi and Rajput, who were injured in the Parliament premises, and inquired about their health, sources said.

A senior officer said that the police have received the complaint and are investigating.
