No alliance with BJP, AIADMK reiterates

Chennai: The main opposition AIADMK in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday reiterated that it will not have any alliance with the BJP, including the 2026 assembly elections.

Senior party leader D Jayakumar told reporters here that party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has repeatedly made it clear that there will be no alliance with the BJP for the foreseeable future.

Jayakumar, replying to a question by BJP Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai, commented that an alliance with the AIADMK could be a possibility to defeat the ruling DMK. Also, AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran favors an alliance between AIADMK and BJP.
Dinkaran’s party is an ally of the BJP.

The AIADMK leader said regarding alliances with parties other than the BJP, party chief Palaniswami will take a decision before the 2026 elections and there is 15 months time. Jayakumar further alleged that Dhinakaran had ‘surrendered to the BJP’ in view of the case against him.
