PG law college principal under cloud for corruption

Hyderabad: Dr Gummadi Anuradha, principal of PG College of Law, Bashirbagh, has faced serious allegations of harassment, financial abuse and abuse of power by students and professors.

Shashidhar, a second-year student, had accused Anuradha of filing a malpractice case against her in November 2022 after she refused to arrange a ₹50 lakh loan she sought to fund a TV channel aimed at criticizing government welfare schemes. Shashidhar produced WhatsApp transcripts and other evidence to support his claim, also alleging that Anuradha tried to seize his phone to destroy evidence.

During a freshers’ party, Anuradha allegedly disrupted the program, alleging that first-year students filed RTI queries on her financial dealings and questioned her teaching commitment. Witnesses heard her declare, “If I have to teach, they should stop filing RTIs against me.”

In April 2023, an FIR was filed by a part-time lecturer and advocate who alleged that Anuradha was forced to lend Rs 6 lakh under false pretenses, promising to repay it within two months. The complaint details the financial transactions and claims that Anuradha used her authority to threaten him when he tried to pay.

The student organizations have approached the Registrar of Osmania University and the State Human Rights Commission with detailed complaints and evidence. Anuradha was earlier removed from her post over similar allegations in February 2023 but reinstated within a year, allegedly through political influence.

Now, students and faculty are demanding his immediate dismissal, saying his “erratic and authoritarian” behavior is damaging to the reputation of the institution.
