9 Indian workers died in a road accident in Dubai

Nizamabad: Nine Indian workers, including three from Telangana, died in a road accident in Dubai’s Khorfakkan. The incident took place on Sunday night when a bus carrying 83 laborers crashed in Khorfakkan. M/s Darwish Engineering met with an accident from Ajman to Khorfakkan. Nine workers were declared dead and all were Indian nationals.

Officials of the Indian Consulate visited Khorfakkan and Fujairah on Monday to ascertain the details of Indian nationals who died in the accident, were seriously injured in the ICU and were admitted to the hospital. They admitted the injured workers to the hospital as well as the driver, an Indian national, to the Khorfakkan Hospital with minor injuries.

Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri has written a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar regarding the road accident in Dubai. He said most of the victims were from Nizamabad Parliamentary Constituency and the incident left their families devastated and in deep grief. The sudden and tragic loss has created an urgent need for assistance and support for injured survivors and families of the deceased, he said.

MP Arvind urged the Union Minister to facilitate the repatriation of accident victims who are waiting to return to their families in India. Responding immediately to the Nizamabad MP’s letter, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the UAE Consulate is in touch with the company and will provide all necessary assistance and facilitate early transportation of the body to India.

The company has assured that all service facilities and other compensation will be arranged according to the local law in the case of deceased workers. The consulate is also contacting the families of the deceased Indian workers, Union Minister S Jaishankar said in his reply to MPs. Meanwhile, the details of the dead and injured have not been made public yet.
