A teacher and a student have been killed and several others injured in a shooting at a Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin, just days before the Christmas holiday. Police said that the student who opened fire also died of self-inflicted injuries.
Madison Police Chief Shawn Barnes said police responded to Abundant Life Christian School at 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
Among the six injured, the condition of two students whose lives are in danger is critical, while the condition of four other students is not in danger of death, the police said. The suspect, a 17-year-old girl, reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. CNN Report.

Police Chief Barnes said responding officers did not fire their weapons. Investigators believe the 17-year-old student used a 9mm handgun in the fatal shooting.
“Today is truly a sad day for Madison and for our country. It’s a day that I believe will live in our collective minds for a very, very long time,” Barnes said at a news conference.

According to Abundant Life Christian School’s website, it has 390 students from kindergarten through high school and is non-denominational.

According to a post by the school, located in Madison, Wisconsin, on its Facebook page, “Prayers are requested! Today, we had an active shooter event in the ALCS. We are in the middle of a follow up. We will share information as much as possible. Please pray for our Challenger family.
The school’s website further states that it is accredited with the Association of Christian Schools International. And it was founded in 1978 “to provide students with academic excellence in a Christ-centered context.”
What did the police say?
Madison Police Chief Shawn Barnes said the shooting at Abundant Life Christian School happened “in the learning part of the school.”
“We believe the shooter was at the school. We have no knowledge that there was any kind of breach at the school,” Barnes added.
