The state government should finalize the rehabilitation plan for the families in Churalmala and Mundakkai in Wayanad before December 30, BJP national executive committee member PK Krishnadas said here.
At a press conference held here on Monday, Krishnadas alleged that due to the state government’s inefficiency and carelessness, the plan for the rehabilitation of the landslide-affected families has not progressed even a single step. It has been four months since the earthquake.
He accused the government of blaming everything on the Center to cover up its inefficiency. He said the government should stop using the Wayanad disaster as a political weapon.
Mr. Krishnadas demanded that the government immediately convene a meeting of those who have promised to help in rehabilitation in Wayanad. He also sought details of the amount spent by the government from the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF) for disaster victims.
The Chief Minister should disclose the amount received in the State Disaster Relief Fund and how much the government plans to spend for Wayanad.
The state does not have a clear picture of the number of families to be resettled or how much land is required to build houses for the displaced families. The government should not wait for central funds to prepare the basic framework of the rehabilitation package, he said.
The state should be clear on the money that has come into the CMDRF, how much the government has used so far for Wayanad and the amount it has received from the Center as emergency assistance.
Mr. Krishnadas said the Center has allocated ₹145.90 crore in the first phase, another ₹145.90 crore in the second phase and the third installment of ₹153 crore.
He also accused the opposition party of forgetting their role and joining hands with the ruling party instead of calling them.
