The Andhra Pradesh High Court has granted interim protection from arrest to Sajjala Bhargava Reddy for two weeks

Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC) Justice BVLN Chakraborty on Monday (Dec 16) granted YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Sajjala Bhargava Reddy interim protection from arrest for two weeks in nine cases registered against him for making defamatory and defamatory messages. The judge also directed the CID to submit a counter-affidavit in that regard and adjourned for two weeks the petitions filed by Mr. Bhargava Reddy seeking quashing of the FIR.

Mr. Bhargava Reddy, who heads the YSRCP’s social media wing, approached the Supreme Court for relief earlier this month but it refused to intervene, while preventing the police from arresting him for two weeks. Article 226 of the Constitution.

The Supreme Court had not commented on the merits of Mr. Bhargava Reddy’s petition.

It made it clear that the HC was the appropriate forum for Mr. Bhargava Reddy to appeal against the criminal charges framed by the CID against Mr. Chandrababu Naidu who was then Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly.
