IIT Madras NPTEL-GATE portal provides free resources to prepare for the exam

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is providing NPTEL-GATE portal to students who want to appear in GATE exam.

The National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) portal provides access to previous year questions covering various exam subjects from 2007 to 2022.

About seven to one million students appear for the GATE exam every year in India, the organization’s press release said. And in 2023, about seven lakh students are registered, and about one lakh students are successfully qualified. Exam preparation programs on the portal have significantly increased student participation.


So far, the online platform has received over 50,700 registrations.

Things to know

  • NPTEL-GATE portal provides all the features free of cost.
  • Between August 2022 and February 2023, students completed 115 mock exams in six core subjects – electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electronics and communication, physics, and chemistry.
  • The current semester started on October 15, 2023. As a part of this, 19 mock exams were conducted in seven subjects including six mentioned above apart from biotechnology.

How to apply?

  • Participants can register on the official website using an active email ID and mobile number.
  • Fill the online form with correct information and upload all required documents.
