A tribal youth was dragged by a car in Wayanad, Kerala India news

A tribal youth was allegedly dragged for 500 meters by a car in Kerala’s Wayanad district on Sunday, prompting the police to open a case of attempted murder.

Action was taken after the video of the incident went viral on social media. According to the police, the victim, identified as Mathan, was admitted to the Government Medical College at Mananthwadi in Wayanad.

The video allegedly shows a person in the car grabbing Mathan’s hand through the window and pulling him away.

According to the police, the incident took place due to a clash between two groups at the Kudal Kadau check dam near the tourist spot Mananthwadi. It is said that when one group tried to attack another group, Mathan, who was present at the place, intervened to calm down both sides. This allegedly provoked the group in the car, which dragged her down the road.

State Scheduled Castes/Tribes Welfare Minister Va Kelu said the police had been ordered to take strict action against the attackers. He said that the government has given serious attention to this matter.
