India pacer Jasprit Bumrah outclassed Kapil Dev after showing his heroics at the Gabba in the third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
Single-handedly tore apart Australia’s batting line-up, Bumrah dismissed Travis Head (152) and Smith (101). Also, Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, Mitchell Marsh and Starc have taken 6 wickets.
Bumrah’s second wicket in the five-match series takes him ahead of the World Cup-winning captain as his tally of wickets outside Asia reaches double figures.
Kapil Dev held the record for the highest number of wickets by an Indian bowler outside Asia for a long time with 9 five-wicket hauls.
Overtaking the legend, Bumrah became the first Indian bowler to take 10 wickets outside Asia.
Moreover, with this feat, he tied with Australian captain Cummins for the third most five-wicket haul in the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy. They both have 9 fifers in WTC history. India’s Ravichandran Ashwin is at the top with 11 Fifers.
Meanwhile, Bumrah also became the second Indian bowler to achieve the feat with Kapil Dev taking 50 wickets on Australian shores.
