Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series lineup in September 2025, and even though the launch is still 9 months away, rumors surrounding the upcoming iPhones are rife.
An alleged image of the iPhone 17 Pro’s frame has surfaced on Weibo, suggesting that the Pro models will feature a horizontal camera setup. This indicates that Apple may ditch the rounded square camera setup in favor of a rectangular one.
Information previously reported that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will get a rectangular camera bump made of aluminum instead of the traditional 3D glass.
Apart from the camera setup, the image also revealed that the iPhone 17 Pro might have an aluminum frame. The back of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max may feature a half-aluminum and half-glass design. The bottom half will be made of glass to support wireless charging.
Apple is reportedly planning to bring back aluminum frames to the entire iPhone 17 lineup. The tech giant used an aluminum frame for standard models like the iPhone 16 and the lower-end iPhone SE. Up until the iPhone 14 Pro models, the company used stainless steel frames and introduced a titanium chassis for the iPhone 15 and 16 flagship models.
The new camera setup will be one of the most significant design changes in high-end iPhones in recent years. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to launch next year alongside the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air.
