Ahmedabad police have busted a gang of six men from Madhya Pradesh, red-handed when they tried to pass fake Indian currency notes (FICNs) into real ones at the city’s vegetable market, officials said.
The accused, who was arrested on Friday, was sent to police custody for 12 days on Saturday.
Those arrested are Deepak Badshah Ramsahay Jatav (21), Umesh Kamlesh Kalicharan Jatav (24), Anurag (24), Vikas Janved Singh Lalaram Jatav (25), Umesh Rajkumar Makundilal Prasad Jatav (22), Dharmendra Kailash Ramratan Jatav (22), Ruwanal Singh ( 22) are there. Jatav (19) – All from different villages in Mehgaon Taluk of Bhind District of MP. They were arrested based on the complaint of Sola Police Station Assistant Head Constable Yogesh Bhikhabhai. The police recovered 247 currency notes of 500 rupees from them.
They were booked under BNS Sections 179 (genuine use of counterfeit notes or coins), 180 (possession of counterfeit notes or coins), 178 (counterfeit notes or coins), 181 (making or possessing instruments for making counterfeit notes or coins) . and 61(b) (criminal conspiracy).
Police said that Anurag is the main accused in the case and is involved in printing, cutting and illegally circulating fake notes in the Indian market. He also taught someone else to print the FICN, Sola police said on Sunday.
According to the police, many of the accused had previously printed a total of 100 fake notes of Rs 100, which were worth Rs 10,000. They then forged fake notes worth Rs 6,000 in Delhi and spent another Rs 4,000 at FICN Bhind, MP. After that, they decided to print 500 rate notes to earn money quickly, police said.
Officials said that in the current situation, Anurag, Vikas, Umesh Rajkumar and Deepak have come up with the idea of printing FICN of Rs 500 and going to the city to spend it as real currency.
After this, Anurag and Vikas meet their uncle Jayveer who lives in Mehgaon and take his color printer on the pretext of some work. They then printed the notes on sheets, cut them, tied them in bundles and rushed to Ahmedabad to throw them in the market, police said.
They were staying at a relative’s house near the Chanakyapuri vegetable market and on the evening of November 13, before being arrested by the police, they spread out in the market to throw fake notes.
