Pakistani activity reduced to zero after deployment of anti-drone system on Jammu border: BSF officer | India news

Drone activities from Pakistan have come down to almost zero after the deployment of an anti-drone system along the Jammu border, a senior BSF officer said on Friday, asserting that Indian forces are far ahead of their adversaries in terms of technological upgrades.

Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu Frontier DK Bura said that it is not like when India had old-fashioned weapons. He said that it has been developed by adopting new technology and advanced weapons.

Apart from heavy deployment of manpower, technical surveillance is in place along the entire border of Jammu region and has been extended to other parts of the country, he said.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion of the 60th Foundation Day celebrations of the force and to highlight the achievements registered by his troops in Jammu this year, Bura said the sector has a sensitive border which is monitored round the clock by boots-on-arms. Concentrated land (manpower) and technological development to ensure any infiltration from across the border.

β€œThe (drone) activity from across the border has decreased and the exact reason is known only to them (Pakistan). However, after we upgraded our (anti-drone) system on the border, this problem (drone infiltration) has come down to almost zero in Jammu which proves that our technology has been successful,” said the BSF official.

He said that technology is developing in every area of the world.

“It is clear that terrorist groups will use it and so our agencies like police, army and BSF will also try. So it is a normal process that whatever kind of technology is available, it is available to everyone and everyone uses it. And that technology is available, its counter is also available at the same time,” said a BSF official referring to drones and counter-drone gadgets.

He said that if any technology is upgraded in Pakistan, the Indian Army is also getting the new version. In fact, India is ahead of its opponents, he added.

“It happens everywhere… there is no need to worry about it because this upgrade is a normal process. If something new is available, it is also available for us. So we use it.

“And I assure you that our government and the military will leave no gap in upgrading that we remain behind those who work against us,” Bura said when asked about steps taken to stop terrorists using advanced weapons.

He said the Jammu border falls under the country’s most sensitive border and “our soldiers and officers do very tough duty here”.

β€œAnd the BSF has also achieved great success in doing this. For this, I would like to congratulate all those working under my command,’ Bura said.

Asked about the threat posed by terrorists using the American-made M4 carbine, a senior police officer said there was no particular threat as all the weapons were similar.

β€œThere is hype about foreign-made carbines, although it does not make a difference. It has the same system as other weapons…magazines, bullets and triggers.

India is not what it is now when we had old-fashioned weapons. Now we have new technology, new India-made weapons which are very good,” he said.

Regarding the new technology and weapons inducted by the BSF in recent times, Bura said that it is not right to disclose the details in the public domain.

“I can assure you that BSF has latest technology and latest weapons. And whatever technology is upgraded, we invest in it immediately.

And we get full support and money from the government. That’s why we are ahead of it,” he said.
