Tripura government has won seven national panchayat awards.
Sharing this news, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Shah wrote on his social media handle, “Proud moment for Tripura! The state has received seven National Panchayat Awards, scripting history. This significant achievement reflects our commitment to deliver good governance.
The awards will be presented at the National Panchayat Awards Ceremony to be held in New Delhi on December 11. A delegation led by Sandeep R. Rathod, Secretary, Rural Development (Panchayat) Department, will participate in the program on behalf of the state government.
Amarpur RD Block in Gomti District of Tripura has been awarded Best District Panchayat and Best Block Panchayat under the Nanaji Deshmukh Best Panchayat Sustainable Development Award.
Gomti district will get Rs 5 crore and Amarpur RD block will get Rs 1 crore 75 lakh for the award winners.
Manubunkul Village Samiti under Rupaicherry Block has been adjudged the Best Women-Friendly Panchayat under the Deendayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sustainable Development Award.
Betchara Gram Panchayat of Kumarghat Block and Rajkang Village Committee under Amarpur RD Block bagged the third position in the ‘Poverty Free and Improved Livelihood’ and ‘Child-Friendly Panchayat’ categories of the Panchayat Awards respectively.
Under the Deendayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sustainable Development Award, Debbari Gram Panchayat of Amarpur block has bagged the third position in the ‘Water Adequate Village’ category.
Under the Gram Urja Swaraj Special Panchayat Award, Thakchara Gram Panchayat under Amarpur Rd Block has bagged the second position in Carbon Neutral Panchayat category.
Last month, Chief Minister Shah asked representatives and officials to try to make the state’s panchayat system a role model for the entire country.
