With cases of hypersensitivity pneumonitis on the rise in the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has once again warned of action against citizens feeding pigeons in the open as the droppings and feathers of the birds cause lung infections.

Among those with lung infections in the city, about 65 percent have been diagnosed with hypersensitivity pneumonitis,” said a public notice placed by the PMC near all pigeon-feeding places in the city. “We request citizens not to eat pigeons in the open. After a few months ago, the PMC administration arranged arrangements for feeding pigeons on the footpaths of Bibewadi, but the plan was canceled after the citizens objected.
