Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s help to see through several projects in Andhra Pradesh. Naidu met at the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi in the evening and the discussion lasted for 45 minutes.
Among them were financial matters, various development projects and the challenges involved in them. Naidu informed the Prime Minister about the resumption of work on the Polavaram and Amravati projects and outlined the steps taken to expedite their progress. The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for the financial support from the Center to build the foundation for two important projects in the state.
Naidu drew Modi’s attention to the previous government’s diversion of funds from 94 central government schemes, causing huge losses to the state. He told the Prime Minister that 74 of these schemes have been restarted.
Discussing the establishment of ArcelorMittal steel plant, the CM asked the Center to ensure timely supply of raw minerals. He also pleaded for speedy approval from various departments for this plant.
Blaming the previous administration on several counts, Naidu told the Prime Minister that the revenue deficit subsidy expected from the Center over five years has been consumed in three years. He asked Modi to provide financial support to AP through special assistance provision.
The Chief Minister presented the Golden Andhra Vision 2047 document to the Prime Minister. Naidu explained the goals set by the state and the plans to achieve them. He demanded extensive cooperation from the central government to realize SAV 2047.
The discussions there also covered the inauguration of the project by the Prime Minister next month and the foundation-laying ceremony, an official release said here.
Naidu also met Union Ministers Amit Shah and Nirmala Sitharaman and explained the state’s financial situation and steps taken to stabilize them. Issues related to release of central funds were raised in various departments. He held discussions with Union Ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Nirmala Sitharaman and Ashwini Vaishnav.
Earlier, Naidu attended a meeting of NDA leaders to enhance coordination among alliance partners in Parliament. BJP President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chandrababu Naidu were present at Nadda’s residence.
The leaders also examined the issue of good governance at a function to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Also, they discussed strategies for cooperation on the One Nation-One Electoral Bill now before the JPC.
After the meeting, TD MP Devarayalu said coordination between alliance partners, along with effective implementation of central government schemes in Lok Sabha constituencies were discussed extensively.
Naidu met Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy to discuss strengthening of Visakhapatnam steel industry. AP Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav and Union Ministers Kinjirappu Ramamohan Naidu, Pemsani Chandrasekhar, Srinivasavarma and Members of Parliament also attended these meetings.
