Tension in college after girl’s suicide in Hanamkonda

Warangal: In a private junior college here, tension has increased after a 16-year-old first-year girl committed suicide in her hostel room under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday. The parents of the deceased and members of the students’ organization staged a dharna in front of the college on the KU-cross road in Hanamkonda.

The girl, a resident of Rathiram Thanda of Nellikudur mandal, was studying secondary school in the college and was living in the college hostel. When the door did not open on Tuesday night, the co-workers informed the hostel management.

After receiving the information, the management reached the hostel and forcibly opened the door. They saw the dead body of the girl. The management then shifted her to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital, where doctors informed them that the girl had died.

After learning about her daughter’s death, her parents and members of various student organizations reached the college early in the morning and questioned the management about the cause of her daughter’s death.

Meanwhile, the police reached the college. The management told the police that the girl was suffering from health related problems and took extreme measures due to her unwellness.

After the police intervened and prevented the student union leaders from entering the college, the clash between the college administration and the parents and student leaders continues.

However, alleging that the management moved the body to MGM Hospital without informing the parents, the parents along with the student leaders staged a dharna in front of the college.

The student leaders have accused the management of running the college without permission. How can the body be taken to the hospital for postmortem without informing the parents,’ they questioned.
