CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister, Govi Chezhiyan has recently assured that the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) has the necessary administrative and infrastructural capabilities to function efficiently. State Eligibility Test (SET). The government has authorized the TRB to supervise the examination with the help of university professors. Stressing on transparency, Chezian highlighted that the examination will follow University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, with possible online options through the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for candidates.
Chejian said the government recently issued an order authorizing the TRB to manage the SET.
According to him, efforts are being made to conduct the examination in a transparent manner following the standards set by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
“It is pertinent to mention here that the examinations for the National Eligibility Test were also conducted by the National Examination Agency as per the UGC,” he said.
The Minister emphasized that TRB has adequate administrative and infrastructural facilities to ensure smooth functioning of SET. He also highlighted the possibility of keeping SET online through the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency. Therefore, he said that the SET examination conducted under TRB will be conducted effectively.
Chejian recalled that since the establishment of the Teacher Recruitment Board in 1987, 1,68,657 teachers, professors and assistant professors have been recruited by conducting examinations.
Also, around 120 scholars were shortlisted to avail the Chief Minister Fellowship Scheme through an examination conducted by the board, he said.
