Anganwadi workers retire after 43 years

AdilabadAnganwadi worker Kilaru Radha retired from the Women and Child Welfare Department on Sunday after 43 years. His retirement function, held at an anganwadi center, was attended by parents, fellow anganwadi workers, and community members of various castes and religions.

Radha started her service as an Anganwadi worker in Sonala Booth Project in February 1982 and later served in Adilabad Urban till her retirement. Throughout her tenure, she became a role model for many, earning respect for her unwavering commitment to the welfare of children and women.

Parents at the ceremony praised Radha for her dedication and love towards the children and pregnant women in her care. They highlighted his active role in conducting government surveys and his exceptional service during the Covid-19 pandemic. Many women shared memories of Radha’s support during their pregnancies, especially her efforts in organizing seemantam ceremonies and ensuring their health and well-being.

Appreciating her outstanding contribution to child development and community health, the district authorities had earlier recognized Radha as an outstanding Anganwadi worker. Her personal touch and compassionate approach fostered strong bonds with the families she served, making her a beloved figure in the community.

Radha retired from the post of Anganwadi Aya at Sundarainagar Colony Centre, where she had been working since 1997. Appreciating her decades of service, parents and children showered her with heartfelt gifts.

A parent said, “We always felt confident leaving our children with Radha, knowing they were in safe and loving hands until we returned from work.”

In interaction with Deccan ChronicleExpressing her gratitude, Kilaru Radha said, “With the help of the community, I have been engaged in this service for so many years. It was challenging at times, but the love and trust of the people made it all worth it. I am honored to receive the award and recognition as the best booth level officer at the national, state and district levels in the 2015 assembly elections.”

Community leaders and residents praised Radha for her exceptional service, acknowledging that she had positively impacted countless lives during her four-decade-long career. Her legacy of compassion and dedication will inspire future generations of Anganwadi workers.
