With AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal declaring the registration of the party’s schemes for women and the elderly a “vessel of lies”, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj on Sunday said people will no longer fall for it.
Attacking Kejriwal over the Chief Minister Mahila Samman Yojana, Swaraj told the media, “Kejriwal had promised Rs 2,100 per month to women. But even before the Lok Sabha elections, he announced Rs 1,000 a month to women, filled the form, and did not distribute a single rupee. He had announced a similar scheme in Punjab in 2022, but by the end of December 2024, no money had reached the account of any woman in Punjab.
“Women’s respect is just an election gimmick for AAP. Kejriwal should answer why his private secretary physically assaulted MP Swati Maliwal at her residence and remained silent… The women of Delhi understand Kejriwal’s deception very well,” he added.
On the Sanjeevani scheme – which promises free treatment in government and private hospitals to all Delhi voters above the age of 60 – Swaraj questioned why the Delhi government has not adopted the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme. He (Kejriwal) has not implemented Ayushman Bharat because of his political vendetta. If this plan fails to give justice to senior citizens, how can they claim to ensure their welfare? she asked.
Ayushman Bharat Yojana provides financial security for secondary and tertiary healthcare to economically weaker families.
