Hyderabad: GHMC’s Lakes and Water Bodies Management Circle said it has taken up 34 projects at a cost of around Rs 61 crore to fence ponds, strengthen dams and divert sewage from water sources.
According to the GHMC report, 10 project works have been completed, 18 are ongoing, and four are in the process of inviting tenders.
Serilingampally had the highest number of 12 projects, five completed and two in progress. Next was Kukatpally, where two projects had been completed and work on eight more was in full swing.
Officials have demolished unauthorized structures in seven lakes constructed in FTL and buffer zones with the help of Hydra.
These include 35 structures at Sunnam Cheruvu in Kukatpally, 12 at Chinthal Cheruvu at Gajularamram, 13 sheds and compound walls at Appa Cheruvu at Laxmiguda. Four buildings and 20 compound walls were destroyed in Bam-Rukh-ud Dola in Rajendranagar, one structure in Erla Cheruvu in Madinaguda, 1 structure in Thammadi Kunta in Khanmet and 16 structures in Nalla Cheruvu in Kukatpally.
