Gujarat GST department unearths tax evasion of Rs 5.42 crore Ahmedabad news

The Gujarat GST department has allegedly detected an estimated tax evasion of Rs 5.42 crore through statewide raids at 67 locations across the state, according to an official statement issued on Sunday.

According to the release, search was conducted at the location of persons involved in renting party plots, providing decoration and catering services for events and programs.

The statement said, on December 18, search operations were conducted in cities like Ahmedabad, Anand, Ankleshwar, Bharuch, Kheda, Nadiad and Vadodara, which revealed significant irregularities.

“Investigations have revealed unaccounted transactions and deliberate under-reporting of tax liabilities. Preliminary assessment shows tax evasion of around Rs 5.42 crore, with total turnover estimated at Rs 24.89 crore,” the department said in a statement.
