Google is already working on Android 16, which will launch sometime next year. While we already have some idea of ββwhat the upcoming version of the world’s most popular mobile operating system will bring, it looks like the tech giant is working on a new iOS-inspired feature to combat motion sickness.
Dubbed “motion cues”, by a recent report Android Authority The functionality is coming soon to Android devices and reveals that users will be able to enable it via a quick settings tile. As it turns out, Android will be able to turn it on automatically when it detects you’re “driving”.
As you can see in the video, Motion Cues will place animated black dots on the sides of the display, mimicking the direction of your vehicle’s movement. The upcoming feature may not be able to completely prevent motion sickness, but it will help users reduce the sensory conflict between what they see and how their brain feels without profoundly affecting their reading and viewing experience.
While it’s still unclear whether or not Google will roll out motion alerts to Android users, the feature appears to require the “Display over app” permission to work. However, with Motion Cues about to complete, you won’t have to wait long.
A few months ago, Apple introduced a feature called “Vehicle Motion Cues” for devices running iOS 18, which also helps with motion sickness. Currently, the feature is not live for Android users, but interested users can access it by downloading and tweaking Google Play Services beta version 24.29.32 or newer.
