A three-year-old boy was hit by a car near Ambedkar College in Wadala on Saturday evening. The police arrested the car driver and sent him for medical examination.

According to the police, Ayush Kinwade was playing on the pavement with his parents when the Creta driver hit him.

The accused driver Bhushan Ghole (19) was beaten up by the locals and handed over to the police. RAK Marg Police registered an FIR and arrested Ghole.

RAK Marg Police Station Senior Inspector S Randiwe said that the accused was taken for medical examination to check whether he had consumed alcohol or not. An official said the boy’s father, Laxman Ramesh, was a mandap decorator.

Ranadive said, ‘Primarily, the driver does not appear to have consumed alcohol.

Police checked whether the driver had a valid driving license and suspected that the boy fell under the four-wheeler while taking a U-turn or reversing the car.
