Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave approval for construction of roads in Amravati Zone 7 and 10 at a cost of Rs 2,723 crore at the 44th CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority) meeting held at the State Secretariat on Monday.
Among several key decisions, Naidu also sanctioned βΉ 102 crore to complete houses pending construction by the Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APTIDCO), with June 12 as the deadline for completion of construction.
The Chief Minister said till date, the government has approved projects worth Rs 47,288 crore for CRDA in Amravati, highlighting the government’s continued commitment to strengthen infrastructure and housing in the state capital. He said that this latest approval is expected to further accelerate the pace of development of Amravati, positioning it as a key hub for development in the region.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. giving details of the decisions taken in CRDA meeting. Narayan said that 1 lakh 18,000 houses will be built, saying that APTIDCO is remaining as a non-performing asset due to delays. He said, βThese houses approved by the Center from 2014 to 2019 were delayed due to various problems. During this period, a total of 7 lakh 1 thousand 481 houses have been approved, out of which 5 lakh houses have been given permission and 4 lakh 54 thousand 706 houses have been grounded. By 2019, construction of 3 lakh 13 thousand 832 houses has already started.
The minister assured that there will be no financial burden on the people for the development of Amravati. Funds for these projects will be collected from farmers and returned by selling the acquired land and no loans will be used to meet development costs. He said, ‘Amravati development work will be completed within three years.
Narayan also highlighted that the state government has adopted a planned approach to ensure balanced development in all the 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh. He mentioned that several central institutions have been allocated to the districts like Tribal University for Vizianagaram, IIM for Visakhapatnam and IIT for Tirupati. The government is also focusing on setting up industrial hubs like a drone hub in Kurnool and manufacturing units in Rayalaseema.
The minister also said that the government is working on development of ports and satellite cities through land pooling like Amravati model at various locations. In Visakhapatnam, they are working to bring back major companies like TCS and Google, and in Kurnool, a drone hub is being set up on 350 acres.
