Revanth targets BRS over development bottlenecks in Kodangal

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has reiterated his commitment to push ahead with development projects in the Kodangal Assembly constituency and Palamuru region, despite perceived obstruction from the opposition, particularly the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Addressing the Telangana Assembly on Saturday, the Chief Minister accused the BRS of provoking local farmers and hampering initiatives aimed at employment and infrastructure development.

During a discussion on the ‘Rathu Bharosa’ scheme, Mr. Reddy said his government has planned a pharma village near Lagcherla, which is strategically located between two national highways. “We proposed to acquire a total of 1,300 acres of land in four villages including Lagcherla out of the total three lakh acres of the constituency. This project will create 25,000 to 50,000 jobs. However, BRS has incited resistance among farmers,” he alleged.

Criticizing the stand of the opposition, he said that the previous BRS government had acquired 15,000 acres of high-value land near Shamsabad for development projects. “If it is acceptable for industries to acquire prime land near Hyderabad, why is it wrong to set up a pharma village in a rural area?” He questioned.

The Chief Minister accused the BRS of sabotaging various initiatives including the Musi Development Project, industrial expansion and metro rail expansion. “Their obstruction is not only against my progress but also against the progress of Telangana. They are opposing every project that will benefit the people,” he said.

He also leveled vile allegations against the BRS leadership, accusing them of attacking and harming officials who aided development projects during their decade-long rule. “It is not enough for the people of Kodangal to strip my skin and sew my sandals,” he said.

Referring to the fiscal legacy of the previous government, Mr. Reddy said the BRS had left the state with a debt burden of ₹ 7 lakh crore, borrowing at exorbitant interest rates of 11.5%. “This fiscal mismanagement has hampered our ability to allocate funds for welfare schemes,” he said.

The Chief Minister also accused BRS of neglecting major projects like SLBC in Nalgonda and creating arrears in welfare programs like Rajiv Arogyashri and fee reimbursement. “They ruled for ten years and left a path of destruction,” he added, “I did not come to power using my father’s name. I owe my position to the people.”
