At least two CRPF commandos were injured in Naxalite firing at a remote base in Sukma

Two Cobra commandos of the CRPF were on Monday (December 23, 2024) injured in a gunfight with Naxalites while securing a forward base set up in a remote forest area of ​​Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, officials said.

The incident took place on Sunday at the Gomguda Forward Operating Base (FOB) of the Central Reserve Police Force established by the army.

The FOB belongs to the 241st Battalion of the Paramilitary Force and falls under the Chintalnar Police Station area.

Two commandos of the Army’s Special Jungle Warfare Unit – Cobra – Battalion No. 206 were injured in a gunfight with Naxalites, officials said.

They said they were taken to a nearby health facility and their condition is stable.

Troops retaliated effectively, officials said.

The CRPF is constantly setting up FOBs in deep and remote forest areas to fight and capture the Maoists in uncharted areas of South Bastar region, about 400 km from the capital Raipur.

It has set up more than 40 such FOBs in Chhattisgarh in the last two years.

The central government has announced to end Naxal terror from the country by March 2026.
